Aunt Emily

Emily Bowyer Hammel was my father's older sister. She was the dearest person I've ever known. Over several adolescent summers, she patiently taught me how to sew and how to cook. I loved her. Sadly, she has been gone these few years and I miss her very much. However, I am carrying on her legacy of sewing and trying to carry on her legacy of caring.

I've Fallen In Love - Vouge 2714 by Oscar de la Renta

I've always loved the femininity of the Oscar de la Renta designs. But I have absolutely FALLEN IN LOVE with this design for a coatdress. It is shown in the catalog and in the Pattern Gallery of the Dec 07/Jan 08 Sewing Today's Vogue Patterns.
Next week Hancocks is having a sale - 75% off Vogue Patterns. I must get this one - even if I never make it. Of course I'd love to make it - it could be so many different things. Light pink taffeta or silk dupioni? Maybe aqua.
