Aunt Emily

Emily Bowyer Hammel was my father's older sister. She was the dearest person I've ever known. Over several adolescent summers, she patiently taught me how to sew and how to cook. I loved her. Sadly, she has been gone these few years and I miss her very much. However, I am carrying on her legacy of sewing and trying to carry on her legacy of caring.

L2 Bag: Sewing Workshop - Finished Bags

I just posted a review of this bag pattern at PATTERN REVIEW.COM. Here are the photos of all my finsihed bags. See below where I discuss making pockets, etc.

The pink, green and gray bag is reduced to about 65% of the larger bag.

My 5 yo has fallen in love with the pink, green and grey purse. Would you please let me know where you bought this material and maybe the manufacture? Thank you!

P.S. She also wants to know about the purple and white purse material.

Hi Amy:

Well your 5yo has good taste! Seriously, the pink/green/grey is vintage fabric. It is old barkcloth that I found at a flea market near Rowley, Massachusetts. I had just a bit left over.

The purple and white I got at my local Hancock's on their cheap rack. I bought yards as I wanted to make a coat to go with. If you can't find it, I might be able to send some - big enough for a 5 year old's purse anyway.

Sorry I can't be more help. Let me know if you want a piece of the fabric.

Hi Sally, I did get your email and I would love if you could send a little bit of the fabric for Rachael. I have learned that if my kids are actually asking for me to sew something then it will really be used! Anyway, let me know how you want to go about doing this - amybailesataoldotcom.

I must say your really must love this pattern. I must also say you have made me a fan of it. I love all the looks. Like Amy's kids I love that fabric but then I am liking most all of them. Glad you reviewed this at PR and I am adding your blog to my blogline list. Lately I don't have as much reading time but will be checking in.

Hi Sally .. I love your bags, what pattern did you use for the lovely bag in the middle row? The one you say is 65% less than the original? The style is great .. I know the other ones are L2's but couldn't find a name on this one. Many thanks .. Toby
